Abstract / Summary
Singapore’s domestic wholesale sales registered a decline of 40.6% in second quarter 2020 compared to the same period a year ago, due mainly to lower sales in petroleum. Excluding petroleum, domestic wholesale sales decreased 24.4%. The decline was due mainly to the Circuit Breaker, resulting in lower domestic demand from various industries. Compared to the previous quarter, seasonally adjusted domestic wholesale sales dropped 35.7% in second quarter 2020, due to lower sales in petroleum. Excluding petroleum, domestic sales contracted by 16.6% from the previous quarter.
