Abstract / Summary

Importing fuels is critical for Singapore to secure a reliable and diversified supply of competitively-priced energy. In 2018, Singapore imported a total of 167.0 Mtoe of energy products, 12.1% lower than the 189.9 Mtoe recorded in the preceding year. This was primarily due to lower imports of Petroleum Products, Crude Oil, and Coal and Peat. The majority of Singapore’s energy imports were in the form of Petroleum Products (59.5%). Natural Gas (NG) imports totalled 10.0 Mtoe in 2018, with the bulk comprising Piped Natural Gas (PNG) (7.1 Mtoe).
